NYC: June 10 & 11
With: James Estrin, Sarah Leen, and Mary Virginia Swanson
When: June 10 & 11, 2017, 9:30 AM – 5:00 PM
Where: CUNY Graduate School of Journalism, New York, NY
This will be my first time teaching with the great JAMES ESTRIN, NYT photographer and co-editor of the Lens Blog at his weekend-long crash course covering the basics on polishing and presenting a body of work. This course typically has two guests and the fact that SARAH LEEN, Senior Photo Editor at National Geographic Magazine is also a guest will be memorable. I will be participating all weekend, and responsible for the “Present and Promote” component. Join us! We meet each day at CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in midtown Manhattan.
Many people can take decent photographs. Few photographers understand how to edit, sequence and present their work. These skills will enable you to be better visual storytellers and will help you distinguish yourself from other photographers.
In this intensive weekend workshop you will learn how to edit and sequence photo essays and long-term projects. We will cover story structure, photo editing for presentation in magazines, books, exhibitions or on the web. The workshop will also focus on how to market your stories and yourself.
Level: Intermediate to Advanced.
