Deadline June 22nd: LensCulture Emerging Talent Award 2014

LensCulture
Call for Entries: Emerging Talent Award 2014
REMINDER – Deadline: Sunday, June 22, 2014, 11:59 pm PDT

“LensCulture’s Emerging Talent Awards 2014 is an international competition to showcase outstanding emerging photographers — from all cultures, all points of view, with no age limit.

Our mission at LensCulture is to discover and share the best of contemporary photography. New and emerging photographers often make the freshest, most exciting work — but it’s hard to gain attention when you are relatively new and not widely known. That’s where we can make a big difference. We reach an audience of more than 500,000 — and with these awards, we want to highlight many emerging talents who deserve worldwide attention.

Jurors
Corey Keller, Curator of Photography, San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco, CA, USA
Olivier Laurent, Associate Editor, British Journal of Photography, London, UK
Sujong Song, Festival Director, Curator, Author, Daegu Photo Biennale,Seoul, Korea
Clare Grafik, Head of Exhibitions, The Photographers’ Gallery, London, UK
Jim Casper, Editor & Publisher, LensCulture, Paris, France

Awards
The competition is designed to provide immediate exposure for talented photographers:

  • Every day, select entrants are chosen by our editors to appear on our public Competition Gallery and social media channels, seen by over 500,000 people worldwide. Enter now to be amongst the first considered for this special feature.
  • After the June 22nd, 2014 Midnight PT deadline, our jury will select five winners to each receive a $2,000 cash grant as well as the Top 50 photographers, all of whom will receive significant exposure on LensCulture’s site, social media channels, and in festival screenings around the world.
  • A number of top-rated finalists may still make the LensCulture Editors’ Cut and receive an invitation for a LensCulture Portfolio Account. This provides many on-going opportunities for exposure to our global audience of over 500,000.

Submission Guidelines
We are open to all genres of photography. All points of view. All corners of the world. If you are a photographer beginning to seek global recognition, show us your work!

Emerging photographers, regardless of their age, are encouraged to enter. We consider an “emerging” photographer as anyone who has not yet received significant international recognition. Currently enrolled students or 2014 graduates can enter the competition with a $20 discount on entry fees. There is not a separate student category, just a discounted fee for students. All entries are treated equally. Please see our FAQ for more details.

Please submit up to 10 photographs that work well together as a series — either as a visual narrative, or images that work well together in theme or style. Edit your selections carefully: winners will be judged on the strength of their submissions as unified groups of photos, not as individual photographs.

  • General Entry Fees: $55 for a related series up to 10 images, $5 for each additional image, no limit.
  • Student Entry Fees: $35 for a related series up to 10 images, $5 for each additional image, no limit.”
