“Greg Miller works primarily with an 8×10 camera to create striking narrative portraits characterized by a sensuous use of color and an intimacy with his subjects. His large-scale, highly-directed scenes manage to seem unposed and retain a quiet introspective quality.
Through his many personal projects, Miller has focused his lens on subjects like American county fairs, Italian beachgoers, and drive-in movie audiences. He is now in his 13th year of working on a series of portraits of New Yorkers on Ash Wednesday and in 2008 received a Fellowship from the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation to work on a project examining his hometown of Nashville, TN.
Miller will teach Portraiture: The Invisible Relationship, a two-day weekend workshop, at Project Basho on November 12 & 13.”
