Artist Talk by Michael Kenna
Wednesday, March 5, 2014, 7:00 pm

Free and open to the public.  Seating is first come, first served.

Michael Kenna’s landscapes are unpopulated, simple, serene, and subtle.
Often using very long exposures at night or dawn to soften the hard edge of reality, his minimalist images demand quiet attention from the viewer. Described as elegant, pure, and ephemeral, his work speaks eloquently to the strength of simple beauty.

A public reception will immediately follow the lecture in the Great Hall.”

Artist Talk by Uta Barth
Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at 7:00 pm
Admission: Free and open to the public, parking is $4.  Reservations not required.
Reception to follow.

“Uta Barth is internationally recognized for images bordering on painterly abstraction. The artist renders blurred backgrounds, cropped frames, and the natural qualities of light to capture incidental and fleeting moments which exist almost exclusively within our periphery. With deliberate disregard for both the conventional photographic subject and the point and shoot role of the camera, Barth’s work deconstructs the conventions of visual representation, calling attention to the limits of the human eye.”
