“Between 2006 and 2013, Lucas Foglia traveled throughout rural Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Texas, and Wyoming, some of the least populated regions in the United states.  Frontcountry is a photographic account of people living in the midst of a mining boom that is transforming the modern American West.”

“FotoFocus, a nonprofit arts organization, champions the ubiquity of photography and its important role in contemporary culture. FotoFocus recaptures the spirit of Cincinnati’s legacy as an epicenter of art production and creative exchange, and seeks to revitalize that spirit for the 21st century. Acting as a catalyst for institutional collaboration and community engagement, FotoFocus organizes a month-long biennial celebration spotlighting independently programmed exhibitions of historical and contemporary photography and lens-based art.

Launching in October 2012, with many of the showcased exhibitions continuing beyond, the FotoFocus biennial presents an unprecedented opportunity to learn about and experience the diverse currents of photography. FotoFocus brings together museums, galleries, and universities showcasing world-renowned artists and national and regional standouts. Pop-up venues, community art centers, and other grass roots organizations explore current trends in photography with exhibitions featuring the work of emerging talents and students.”

“Uta Barth is internationally recognized for images bordering on painterly abstraction. The artist renders blurred backgrounds, cropped frames, and the natural qualities of light to capture incidental and fleeting moments which exist almost exclusively within our periphery. With deliberate disregard for both the conventional photographic subject and the point and shoot role of the camera, Barth’s work deconstructs the conventions of visual representation, calling attention to the limits of the human eye.”
