“This event will benefit PROOF’s innovative multi-media approach to visual storytelling, education and training programs that encourage public discourse on human rights abuses worldwide.  The cocktail reception and photography exhibition is an excellent opportunity for guests to bid on extraordinary fine art photographs by notable photographers including Ruben Amador, Allen Ginsberg, Kenro Izu, Elliott Landy, Susan Meiselas, Prabir Purkayastha, Fazal Sheikh, Harvey Stein and many others.

PROOF: Media for Social Justice is a 501 (c) 3 organization that uses visual storytelling to create exhibitions, publications and on-site activities in places with some of the world’s most troubled histories. PROOF partners with international agencies and NGOs to produce exhibitions and programming that document injustice and human rights abuses and tell individual stories of moral courage.”

“Photography has become one of the most dynamic and talked-about fields in the contemporary art world. Whether you are a seasoned collector or just starting out, PhotoBid 2013 is a fun, welcoming event where you can mingle with people who share a passion for photography and bring home an original work of art – all for a great cause!

Organized by INFOCUS, the photography support organization of Phoenix Art Museum, and curated by Dr. Rebecca Senf, the Norton Family Curator of Photography at the Center for Creative Photography and Phoenix Art Museum, PhotoBid 2013 features more than 50 signed limited-edition prints and books by acclaimed photographers from throughout Arizona and the United States. Collectors have the opportunity to bid on these museum-quality photographic prints, which include landscapes, portraits, still lifes and abstractions spanning a diverse variety of media – from black-and-white to color, and from traditional to digital – with a range of prices for every budget.

PhotoBid 2013 auction items may be viewed in person Oct. 5 to 18 at Phoenix Art Museum’s Norton Photography Gallery. Bids may be placed online starting Aug. 15 and in person at the PhotoBid 2013 silent auction on Friday, Oct. 18, from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Guests at the silent auction will enjoy live music, appetizers and a cash bar. The event also features a raffle with tickets priced at just $20 and extraordinary prizes such as signed, limited-edition photographs and books.

In our 36 year history, many of the world’s most celebrated photographers, scholars, critics, and curators have intersected with the organization through exhibitions, lectures, workshops and publications.

On Saturday, October 13, we will host the PRC 2012 Benefit Auction. This event is an exciting opportunity for the photography, art, collecting, and gallery communities to celebrate our important Boston-based cultural institution. By showing your support, the PRC can continue its compelling work of providing quality programming to support fine art and creative photography in New England.

This year’s Auction features a dazzling array of vintage and contemporary photographs, ranging from images by esteemed masters of photography to new work by the stars of tomorrow. You can view the work and bid online (check back often for new items added every week) or see the photographs in person at the Preview Exhibition now open through April 25, 2012.

Aaronel deRoy Gruber (1918-2011), whom we honor this year, is but one of the more than 40 artists in the Auction. You’ll also find great vintage and modern prints by Walker Evans, Charles “Teenie” Harris, Carrie Schneider, Scott Conarroe, Duane Michals, Ed Panar, Fran Forman, Henry J. Simonds, Akihiko Miyoshi, Rebecca Sittler, Daniel Kramer, Aaron Siskind, and Abelardo Morell, to name just a few.

Sara Friedlander, a specialist in Post-War and Contemporary Art at Christie’s, New York, is the auctioneer for the afternoon.

Once a year Visual Studies Workshop celebrates its commitment to the fields of photography, the media arts, and artists’ books with a silent auction for every collector’s budget. On April 8, VSW’s Benefit Auction will feature prints and books by over 200 contributing artists including works by Carrie Mae Weems, Carl Chiarenza, Alison Knowles, Nathan Lyons, Joan Lyons, Dave Heath, Christopher Rauschenberg, Scott McCarney, Mike Mandel, Susan Kae Grant, Jerry Uelsman, and John Wood, to name a few.  All of the auction proceeds and ticket sales support VSW’s programs to exhibit, publish, educate, and provide residencies for artists.

Photographs, prints and books for every collector’s budget have been contributed by 150+ artists!
