“Join The Print Center for a public conversation between artist Andrea Modica and critic and curator Vince Aletti. Modica and Aletti, longtime friends, will discuss their interest in the male nude in contemporary photography. Modica will debut a new series of intimate, unflinching portraits, and we will get the first look at these beautiful prints. Aletti will discuss his renowned collection of photographs of the male nude, which he has amassed over 30 years.”

“Contemporary photographer Andrea Modica will speak about her work, including a series of portraits of teenagers titled Best Friends. Modica currently resides in Philadelphia, PA where she is a Professor within the photography department at Drexel University.”

Artist Talk by Andrea Modica

Andrea Modica works with an 8×10 camera to slow down the process of picture making and to create intimate dramas. A graduate of Yale University, she has photographed subjects such as Minor League baseball players, a halfway house, and a Catholic girl’s school.  Andrea has five monographs, including Treadwell, which is considered a seminal work of portraiture.  Her photographs have been published in The New York Times and Vanity Fair, and exhibited at the Metropolitan Museum of Art and International Center of Photography, amongst other prestigious venues.  She is represented by Edwynn Houk Gallery in NYC, and is a professor of photography at Drexel University.”
