“Artist David Maisel discusses his work along with Claire C. Carter, SMoCA’s Assistant Curator; Rebecca Senf; Norton Family Curator, Center for Creative Photography and Phoenix Art Museum; and Alan Rapp, essayist and editor of David Maisel’s accompanying book Black Maps: American Landscape and the Apocalyptic Sublime.”

This lecture is being presented in conjunction with the exhibition DAVID MAISEL/BLACK MAPS: American Landscapes and the Apocalyptic Sublime at SMoCA on view until September 1, 2013.

“Join CPW for a very special portfolio review event where you’ll have the opportunity to show your work to some of the most distinguished and important professionals in photography today. Held in NYC, in a supportive setting, you will have your work reviewed by five noted luminaries in one-on-one twenty-minute sessions. Reviews can provide you with constructive feedback, new directions, and perhaps that jolt of inspiration to take the next step.

In the June session you will meet Marina Chao of the Museum of Modern Art, Michael Foley of Foley Gallery, Lea Golis senior photo editor of New York Magazine, Ruben Natal-San Miguel of Artsmostfierce Arts Blog, and Alan Rapp of ARStudio.”

Other NYC portfolio review dates are Friday, September 28th and Monday, December 3rd for 2012.
