Sepember 7th, NYC: Opening Reception for “Art That Iterates”

Macy Art Gallery Teachers College Columbia University
Art That Iterates: Exploring change as a condition of the artist’s way of knowing, making and doing
Opening Reception: Friday, September 7, 2012, 5:00-8:00 pm

“Art that Iterates explores change as a condition of the artist’s way of knowing, making, and doing. Everywhere, it seems, change is the only cultural constant. For artists, material playfulness bounces across the threshold that separates technology from craft, pictures from sculptures, and toys from jokes from poetry. Art that Iterates celebrates this condition of playful remix with works that smear the boundaries between art/non-art, mediate/immediate, and viewer/participant.”  Curated by Sean Justice. The exhibition will be up until September 28, 2012.
