The Print Center: 88th Annual International Competition

“The Print Center’s Annual International Competition is one of the most prestigious and oldest competitions in the United States. The Print Center is particularly interested in highlighting local, national and international artists who utilize photography and printmaking in intriguing ways, both in content and process. Artists who use printmaking and/or photography as critical components of their work, or whose work pushes the boundaries of traditional photographic and printmaking practices, are encouraged to enter.

Houston Center for Photography: 2014 Fellowships
Deadline: Friday, November 1, 2013
Fee: $35 for 10 images or video

“Two fellowship recipients will be awarded $3,000 each and a solo exhibition at HCP in the summer of 2014. One Houston-based artist (residing within a 100 mile radius of Houston including the Beaumont, Galveston, and College Station areas) will receive the Carol Crow Memorial Fellowship and another artist from anywhere in the world, outside the Houston area, will receive the HCP Fellowship.

Society for Photographic Education: 2014 Student Scholarship Opportunities
Deadline: Friday, November 1, 2013, 11:59 pm EDT
Fees: $10

“The Society for Photographic Education is a nonprofit membership organization that provides a forum for the discussion of photography-related media as a means of creative expression and cultural insight. Through its interdisciplinary programs, services and publications, the society seeks to promote a broader understanding of the medium in all its forms, and to foster the development of its practice, teaching, scholarship and criticism.

SPE student members can apply for scholarships to offset the cost of attending SPE’s 2014 national conference in Baltimore March 6-9, 2014. All awards include a 2014 national conference fee waiver and a one-year membership to SPE.

Jurors: This year’s jurors are SPE national board members serving on the Awards and Recognition Committee: Erika Gentry (chair), Claude Baillargeon, Amy Holmes George, and Lupita Murillo Tinnen.”
